Roughlee is a delightful hamlet set alongside the gentle stream of Pendle Water and one of three lovely villages sitting at the foot of Pendle Hill. Pendle Hill towers 1,831ft above the region and used to be a beacon hill at the time of the Spanish Armada, and is now a magnet for walkers and cyclists.
The local area surrounding Roughlee is excellent for a variety of tastes and interests - historic market towns, canals, art galleries, museums and a treasure trove for shopping. Barrowford offers small shops specialising in designer shoes and clothes and there is a whole array of mill shops on the doorstep. The choice of places to eat in Pendle is enormous, from excellent traditional pubs to Michelin Star restaurants.
Pendle in Lancashire is the ideal base for trips to Skipton, the Yorkshire Dales, Blackpool, the Coast, Manchester and only an hour away is the Lake District.
